Lake Oswego Neighborhoods

Lake Oswego currently has 20 recognized Neighborhood Associations.

Here is a short list of the most well-known ones:

First Addition

This is one of Lake Oswego's most sought-after neighborhoods. As the name denotes, it is one of the original settlement areas. Grand homes here date back to the 1890s when the iron industry thrived in Oswego. Now, many newer homes mix in with the older homes to give First Addition that mixture of cottage revival. Condos are also an option in this community.

Lake Oswego was once a resort community, which explains why the early 20th-century homes of First Addition are so cozy. Now it’s a bedroom community for Portland, less than 10 miles away. Given the scenic lakeside location, library and coffee shop in walking distance, and public transit into downtown Portland, it's no wonder it remains a popular neibhborhood. Living near a lake has a special charm, as residents of Lake Oswego will tell you. Imagine living under a canopy of trees, in a fine home, away from the hustle of the city, a short walk from the lake on a sunny weekend day. Lake Oswego invites you to discover the fine life.

This is a tight-knit community bent on preserving the things that make First Addition a desirable place to live. Not only have residents worked with city officials to set up traffic-calming strategies, but they've fought for design guidelines that encourage new construction to keep the 'hood's cottagelike feel. You’ll still see houses sized appropriately for lots, jewel-box gardens winking from behind picket fences, and fir and cedar trees towering above narrow, village streets.

West Lake

This neighborhood offers quality family living. The West Lake area features homes built in the 1990's. Family sized home from 2000-4000 SF.  It is a highly sought after neighborhood for the excellent elementary school that is within walking distance from almost any home in this lovely area. Combined with the unbelievable easy freeway access and you have the perfect location for families with elementary age children.

A strong sense of community that is supportive of each other. Tree lined streets invite walkers to gather at the community café for a fresh cup of coffee.  Many events bring families together so relocating families are welcomed warmly.

Home designs are traditional, with a few craftsman and Tudor homes nestled in. As with most top rated neighborhoods, even within West Lake, there're some significant price differences depending on the location. Let me help you to make the best investment.

Lake Grove

Lake Grove has something for everyone - old, new, and some drop dead gorgeous, which always leads to the famous question "where's the lake?"  Following Bryant towards Lake Oswego proper, Lake Grove is west of Oswego lake and south of Mtn Park. Affordability draws many wanting Lake Oswego at the Lake Grove price. In the Lake Grove area are typically homes built from the 1950's to the 1980's. This community is also about to go through some changes.  City government is encouraging mixed use of properties in the town center area, ecouraging higher density housing, convenient transportation options, pedestrian friendly shopping, offices and restuarants.  If you are researching Lake Grove Call me 503-495-5231.

South & North Shore

Lake Oswego luxury estate living at its best.  On the Shore either north or south you will find most of the multi-million dollar estate homes with sweeping views of the Oswego Lake. Some have slips and docks for your mini yacht.  Don't fooled by the understated street presence, most of these estate homes are stately and fabulous.  DO expect to pay a premium to be on the lake, though you may still find a fixer or tear down from time to time, and/or a home with lake rights.  Knowing the area is key to finding the right home. Call me before you start 503-495-5231.

Mountain Park

This area of Lake Oswego has one of the best sunsets in the Portland market!  Mainly built in the 70's, many homes have been updated, but the best deals will require remodeling. Walking trails, recreational center, and close proximity to freeways, Mountain Park has much to offer.  Many condo's and townhomes are also available ranging from 1 bedrooms to luxury units with spectacular views.  Again, knowing the area is key to finding the right investment opportunity.  Start looking today 503-495-5231.
